The vegetation which predominates is in the prevail group, and it is composed by Pine forests, Pine-Holm oak species of the Pinus genre.
Cooperi
Tree of 15 to 35 mts of height and DAP of 30 to 80 cms with a dense, round top formed by thick branches, rough bark of gray to dark gray color with irregular plates, light wood, strong with yellow or yellowish white sap wood. Leaves of 3 to5 fascicles of dark green ashy color.
Duranguensis
Tree of straight timber of 15 to 40 mts of height and 1 m DAP rounded and compact top in the mature trees, with hanging to horizontal branches; the young trees have a cone shape top. Small branches with blue dye, rough bark divided in great scaly plates of dark brown color, pale reddish brown in the mid part and separated by fractures. Light wood, soft of yellowish color, excellent quality. Sheets in fascicles of 6, and sometimes of 5 to 7 of yellowish green color or pale green.
Engelmannii
Tree of straight timber of 12 to 35 mts of height and 25 to 100 cms DAP with an open and rounded top. The young trees have ascending branches and cone shape open top, long and thick branches and the superior ones ascending, and the inferior ones descending, frequently hanging from the old trees. Rough bark, scaly, divided in long and narrow plates; the young trees have a rough and gray colored bark, scaly and carved, but not divided in plates. Soft wood, of pale yellow color. Sheets in fascicles of 3 to 5 and sometimes of 5 to 7 of yellowish green or pale green color.
Teocote
Tree of straight timber of 15 to 35 mts of height and from 25 to 85 cms DAP dense and oblong to cone shaped top of a gray green color, dense and oblong to cone shape in good location areas, or irregular in poor areas. Sigmoid shape branches, horizontal to ascending, and the inferior ones descending, irregularly spaced on the trunk; rough small branches; frequently presents sprouts directly on the trunk, the old tree bark: very thick and rough with fractures of 2cm deep which divide in long irregular plates of dark gray to black color; the young trees have a thin, reddish, and scaly bark. Hard dense wood, heavy and resinous. Sheets commonly in fascicles of 4 to 5 and sometimes of 5 to 7 of ashy green color, giving a bluish aspect from certain distance. |
